API Keys in Different Account Types

Personal Account

  • API keys are private to you
  • You control all costs
  • Only you can add/remove keys

Team Account

Two options:

Option A: Team API Keys

  • Shared API keys for the entire team
  • All team members use the same keys
  • Centralized cost management
  • Owner/Admin can manage keys

Option B: Individual API Keys

  • Each team member brings their own keys
  • Individual cost control
  • Decentralized billing
  • Better for agencies with per-client billing

Best Practice: Agencies often use individual keys per project/client for accurate cost tracking.

Billing Considerations

Personal Account

  • You pay AI providers directly via your API keys
  • No additional team-related costs
  • Full control over your spending

Team Account

  • API key costs depend on your setup (shared vs individual)
  • Possible team subscription fee (check pricing)
  • Consider per-user costs if applicable

Best Practices

For Personal Accounts

  • Keep API keys secure
  • Organize projects by topic/website
  • Use presets for consistency
  • Backup important content

For Team Accounts

  • Assign roles based on actual responsibilities
  • Use projects to separate clients/brands
  • Set up shared presets for consistency
  • Document workflows in project knowledge bases
  • Regular team training on best practices
  • Monitor API usage across the team

Switching Contexts

If you have both personal and team accounts:

  1. Use the account selector in the top navigation
  2. Switch between personal and team workspaces
  3. Each context has its own:
    • Projects
    • Content library
    • API keys
    • Integrations
    • Settings
